Make sure you are connected to the Internet for this step. Connect an USB to DMX controller to your computer in order for your computer to automatically install a piece of Software that is mandatory to start AULIOS properly.
Make sure to always connect your light setup for AULIOS to run properly. You will not be able to add devices virtually, if there are no physical devices connected.
Congratulations! You are now allowed to launch AULIOS.
Our software is designed to communicate with lighting fixtures over two different protocolls: DMX and Art-Net. This empowers you to choose between two ways of connecting your lights to your computer:
᛫ Connect the fixtures with DMX cables to a DMX-to-USB converter that is plugged into the computer
᛫ Connect the fixtures to an Art-Net controller that your computer can access over the local networkYou can also use these two methods in parallel.
In order to let AULIOS control your fixtures, you need to configure them inside AULIOS. To do this, open the AULIOS app and go to ‘Setup’ page.
First you need to setup the universes. Click ‘add universe’ , give the universe a name and select whether it is using DMX or Art-Net.In the case of DMX, input the port number that the DMX-to-USB converter is plugged into on your computer (the port number is determined by the order with which you plug the converters into your computer, the first one → 0, the second one → 1, the third one → 2, etc). In the case of Art-Net, input the IP adress of the controller and the universe id in your Art-Net system (in most cases the universe id starts at 1).
AULIOS needs to have a structure of how the lights are arranged inside the venue. In order to obtain that, AULIOS breaks a light installation down into different groups of lights. A Group is a sets of lights that visualize effects as a unit. Imagine it as an invisible line that connects the individual lights into one component. Here are some examples of lights arranged into groups:
You now have seen how to setup grid-groups. Sometimes there are also simple lines. YOu can select "line" as group type and just put them in as an array of devices. In the ed you only need to add the flashes a sindividual group as well.
To add a group, click ‘add group’ on the setup page and input the group’s name and group type.
You cann add devices inside a group. First, click on a group you want to add a new device and inside that group click “Add new device” to add a new fixture or click on the plus that pops up on empty spaces in a grid. The universe and group should be preselected, but you can also change them, by clicking the select buttons. Next you set the amount of channels that one fixture uses. Once you set the amount of channels, you can now select the according function for each channel such as red, green, blue, pan, tilt, master and more. After you set up the channels you now can select how many of these devices will be created inside the selected group. The following devices will select the following DMX channels up to channel 512. Last you will set the start channel. Click “Add new device” to finish adding your new fixtures. You can always edit each device by clicking the edit button of the fixture you want to adapt inside the group overview.
